Kitchen Gear Needed to Make a Low Carb Banana Milkshake

This milkshake recipe is a little bit different in that we are going to make a low carb ice cream base and freeze it first, then blend into a milkshake. So, we need a few more utensils for this recipe than we use in most other milkshake recipes. Gather the following:

Ingredients & Substitutions for Making this Low Carb Banana Milkshake

Have these ingredients or substitutions prepped, so you can blend up a low carb banana milkshake in the Ninja CREAMi in no time.

Coconut cream I used coconut cream in this recipe, but you could substitute full-fat coconut milk. It has less fat in it than coconut cream and will probably result in a thinner milkshake consistency, but I think it’s still a good replacement option if you can’t find coconut cream. And it’s a good dairy-free option!

Banana & banana extract To create a strong banana flavor while keeping the carb level down, I use a combination of banana slices as well as extract. It’s essential to use an overripe banana for the best flavor, but as a banana ripens, the sugar content goes up. So it’s important to use just enough fresh banana for flavor and texture and then add some banana extract for extra flavor while not adding any more carbs.

Monkfruit sweetener This is my favorite low carb sweetener, but you could try your favorite in this recipe. Just remember to use the LITE ICE CREAM function on the Ninja CREAMi when blending it up.

Almond milk I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk in this recipe, but you could use original almond milk, or even another plant-based milk in its place.
